Braun and Staats were two manufacturers in the Buffalo, NY area.   This table came with a Braun cue rack, but a New York collector tells us he has seen this same model with a Staats label.  In any case, this is unlike any other table we have in our collection.  It is shown stripped of old finish, but with no repair or restoration done.  It is an unusual combination of woods – Quilted Bird’s-eye Maple and Walnut.  The layered, carved skirting which extends all the way up the side of the cabinet is reminiscent of the Brunswick Non-Pareil, but quite different.  The cabinet corners are heavy, decorative cast iron and the tops of the legs are joined to the cabined by heavy cast iron plates.  This table is the smaller eight foot size – 44 x 88 playing area / 54 x 98 overall.
